Things are a bit chaotic around here at present which explains why I haven't been publishing this ezine every week. As well as trying to keep up with my online business activities I've taken on some other things in the "real" world and I need to start prioritizing.

Last month I mentioned that I am currently checking out the "click flipping" strategy. To date I have not managed to get any satisfactory results and many people on the forum appear to be in the same boat. If you are interested in this marketing strategy I suggest you enter with caution. Remember that the strategy involves developing PPC campaigns so it is quite easy to spend money on your advertising and see no return for your investment. I have a few campaigns running - some with fairly low Pay Per Lead rates and some with quite high returns. Still early days but I'll keep you posted.

What Are The Best Types Of Products To Promote As An Affiliate?


Think of any product nowadays and you can be pretty sure there's
an affiliate program attached where you can earn commissions on
any sales of that product that you may make as an affiliate. But
with all this choice how do you decide which products you should
be promoting? 

As a list owner, I get asked this type of question quite a lot by
my subscribers, and my answer is always the same. Rather than
chase those products with high commissions, I recommend starting
off my promoting products that offer commissions on a recurring
basis. Classic examples of such products include autoresponders,
web hosting services, and membership sites. 

These sites will generally pay you a certain percentage in
commission for every person you sign up and for every month they
remain a member. So therefore, you can see that by promoting
these types of products, you can create a constant residual
income for yourself every single month, with no extra effort
needed on your part. 

The great thing about these types of products, particularly
autoresponders and web hosting providers, is that if you can find
and promote really top quality providers, you will find that very
few members will change to a different provider because they are
so happy with their current service. So you can potentially earn
recurring monthly commissions for many years. 

Compare this with the one-time commission that the vast majority
of companies pay out and you can see exactly why I recommend that
you find products that pay out recurring commissions. Sure you
can promote products that pay one-time commissions, but make sure
that you spend at least some of your time promoting products that
offer you a recurring residual income, so you know you have a
steady monthly income coming in in future months. 

Other products that I recommend you promote are those that pay
commissions on a two-tier basis. By that I mean products that pay
out not only a commission for each direct sale you make, but also
pay you a set commission on any sales that your customers may
make. 

For example, let's say you are promoting a product that costs
$100, and which pays out 30% commission on every sale you make,
and 10% on any sales your customers make. So in this case you can
see that not only can you make $30 per sale, but you also earn
$10 for every sale your customers make as an affiliate, so again
your chances of earning additional income are greatly enhanced,
with no extra effort needed on your part. 

So to sum up, and to answer the original question, in my opinion
the best types of products to promote as an affiliate are those
that offer recurring commissions, or those that provide
additional income opportunities such as two-tier commissions.
These types of programs require the same level of effort to
promote as products that pay one-time commissions, yet can offer
far greater financial rewards.

Creative Rich Content

We have all heard the term content-rich, but what does content rich really mean?

Content rich means different things for different individuals, because what one person finds useful, another may not. Content rich is all about providing information that is considered valuable to your target audience. Information that visitors might find useful could consist of product or industry facts, statistics, reviews, tutorials, or educational information related to a specific industry.

How to Make Your Website Content Rich
When creating a content rich website, do not be afraid to think outside of the box. Unique ideas will generally garner more attention than the mundane and more common content concepts. Over the years the unique content that has garnered the most attention, the Subservient Chicken and JibJab, may not be appropriate for a business website, there are still lots of "out of the box" things that you can do.

Here are some ideas on how you can build content for your website that will attract website visitors.

Calendar of Events
If you website appeals to a specific audience manage and maintain a calendar of events. The events should relate to a specific region or topic.

ex. Hawaii Local Events - http://calendar.gohawaii.com/ (regional)
or
ex. Librarian Events - http://www.infotoday.com/calendar.shtml (topic specific events)

Sponsorships and Contests
Conducting a contest is a great way to generate interest and incoming links, everyone wants to win and in order to garner votes many competitors will tell their audience about contests and voting options.

Example: Software Marketing Resource targets software developers and software marketers. They recently held 'Software Vendor Awards'. Software developers and marketers were invited to nominate the companies they felt were worthy. The same audience was then given the opportunity to vote on the top nominees, and finally, winners were announced. Each stage of the contest resulted in buzz and increased web traffic.

Product Reviews and Testimonials
Consumers will often refer to product reviews to discern what product they should purchase. A number of websites have capitalized on this by providing independent product reviews and or independent consumer reviews.

Manufacturers can provide product reviews for related or complimentary products. Product reviews with candid the reviews are most credible if both the product negatives and positives are illustrated.

Forums / newsgroups
User generated content is a great way to capture the keyword long tail. There is no easier way to facilitate user generated content than through the use of forums and newsgroups.


Blogs
Blogs are search engine spider food. Why? Because they can provide relevant related content that is updated regularly. Use blogs to communicate with your audience.


Maps
If your website is regional or local, provide tie ins to Mapquest or Google to show visitors a visual representation or directions to surrounding communities or local events.


Photo Contests / Art Contests
Everyone loves to win. If your website targets a consumer audience, contests can be a great way to interact with your audience. Contests also make a website sticky, because contestants will frequently revisit the website to check their standing, or determine if they are an actual contender. Many contestants will link to the content from blogs encouraging their readers to vote. All in all, contests can result in extra attention.

Stump the Expert / Knowledgebase / Q&As
Frequently asked questions have been dropped for a more modern approach to question and answers. Post "stump the expert questions" or construct a comprehensive knowledgebase of related information.


Writing Articles / How to Guides
When writing your articles, think about what your website visitors want to know, not what you want to tell them. In other words write for your audience not for yourself. Not only does an article archive gradually expand a site, it gives webmasters the opportunity to optimize for a variety of phrases and to educate their audience. How to articles are always a great website addition.


Niche Directories / Lists
Topical portals have long been a popular on the web. Authority sites that focus on niche markets generate interest. Niche sites can be comprised of lists of helpful tools, the best niche blogs, popular news stories, industry specific terminology, and industry resources.

Copying or replicating a service or information on another website, while possibly still of value, will not usually generate as much interest as a new concept. Do not be afraid to reach outside the boundaries of your website to provide quality content.

Internet Marketing Strategy Planning - The Eight Steps Formula

Before you decide what to sell on the internet. You have to develop an Internet Marketing Strategy that is the essential part of your online success on the Internet.

You have to take into consideration the following:
1. Find a large and easy to reach niche market
2. Find a Product or Service the niche market demands for!
3. Setup your website
4. Have a great sales copy (your 24/7 sales man)
5. Create an opt-in page to collect email address
6. Have a great sales process
7. Make your website scalable and search engine friendly
8. Backend, backend and backend

Each step plays an important to your success in your Internet Marketing Strategy Planning. If even one step is miss out you will not be able to see the results you would like to see as each step is equally important to each other.

1. Find a large and easy to reach niche market

Your first step in your Internet Marketing Strategy planning requires you to do your research and find a large and easy to reach niche market to market your product. What you can do from here is that you go to Free Keywords tools and search for niche keywords that have high click through and low competitions.

Example the keyword “Dog Food For Sale”, when you search that on Google there are actually 5,650,000 which is seriously not a lot of competition but you also have to check is there a demand for it by using tools from www.seobook.com to look at the KEI rate. The higher the KEI rate the better the keyword.

2. Find a Product or Service the niche market demands for!

After you have found 2 or 3 keywords that you would like to target on, you would want to find products that will serve the market that demands for it.

Example like the keyword “Dog Food For Sale”, you would not want to promote Cat Food as it is totally not related to the topic you want to promote about. So find related products like an eBook “where to find great sale for dog food” or dog products that dogs like to eat.

3. Setup your website

After you have decided what product or service you want to sell online, you would want to setup a website to promote your product. The best way to do it is by creating a Blog talking nothing but Dog Food that are for Sale. Because Google and Yahoo search engine loves Blogs so much that you virtually get listed just 24 hours upon updating compared to a normal website, which will take at least a few weeks to be cached into the search engine.

4. Have a great sales copy (your 24/7 sales man)

Do not be mistaken, sales copy is not the sale. A sales copy is a page with descriptions and details to promote your product on your website. When I first heard of this term sales copy I was totally stunted how important it was to have a sales copy.

Depending how good your copy writing skills are, you can get people to write your sales copy or simply teach yourself to write one. If you can try to write it yourself as copy writing is a very good skill to learn especially when you are an Internet Marketer who plans Internet Marketing Strategy.

5. Create an opt-in page to collect email address

This is another important step that many do not have and its the most important. Why? It is because they fail to collect email address from their website. With the email address you can design out your sales process in the next step which I will explain further.

6. Have a great sales process

With your opt-in page in place, you can used the captured email address and name to follow up with people who are interested to know more about what you are promoting in your opt-in page. This way build you list of email list and keep sent them information or promotion products to sell those products again in the future.

7. Make your website scalable and search engine friendly

With all that done, you would now need to read up on Search Engine Optimization. Practicing this will allow search engines like Yahoo and Google to spider your website easily. The good thing about Blogs is that you can ping the search engines to spider your site easily and you can listed very quickly within 24 hours.

8. Backend, backend and backend

Upon completion of all 7 steps, you just need to keep on sent backend information to your list from your opt-in emails that you receive and keep on driving traffic your opt-in page to get more email address to sent out promotion to your customers.
