A Comprehensive Guide To Affiliate Marketing Success, Part 3
Do You Need A Website For Affiliate Marketing?

Believe it or not, people who are contemplating on an online career as an affiliate always ask me the same question: do I need a website for that?

Some are quite hesitant to try out affiliate marketing because they are under the belief that such will require a website and that they don’t have the “technical” skills to build one for their own purposes.

Others are quite leery about the perceived expenses that come with building and maintaining a website. Such is an investment they are not ready to make.

So the question remains: do you or do you not need a website to achieve success in affiliate marketing?

Read on, dear friend… the answer is sure to surprise you.

Having Your Own Website Will Help!

There are no ifs and buts about it. Having your own website – your own repository of files in the World Wide Web – will greatly help your affiliate marketing campaigns. For starters, you can use your website as a review center, a blog, a capture page and the likes where you can advertise your affiliate links. Since the website, the space, will be yours, you are not bound to any rules as to how you’d use the same. You have a lot of liberty to make the most out of your website.

Having your own website will mean that you’ll have an easier time establishing your web presence. Instead of advertising a variety of affiliate links, for example, you can just lead people to one central URL pointing to your website. This significantly simplifies the internet marketing demands of your campaigns.

But having your own website will cost you some monetary investment. These are essentials when it comes to building and maintaining your own virtual headquarters in cyberspace. I’m talking about the expenses you’ll incur in securing a web hosting service as well as a domain name.

The rewards of having your own website to help in your affiliate marketing campaign are excellent. But what if you’re not in a position to make such necessary investment?

Don’t fret as there are more ways to skin a cat, so to speak.

Affiliate Marketing Without A Website

The main task assigned to an affiliate is to promote his affiliate links. After all, only through affiliate links will their prospects be referred to the affiliate merchant’s sales page.

We have mentioned earlier that affiliate links are best displayed on a central website – your own website – to ensure uniformity as to where you will lead your market.

But even without such a website, you can still garner some exposure for your affiliate links. Take a look at the ways by which you can do this:

* By promoting each affiliate link as it is. This may be more difficult since each affiliate link will require its own campaign. But it can be done. After all, one hot selling product is all you need to win some amazing commissions.
* By signing up for a free blog account, like www.wordpress.com or www.blogger.com . You can advertise your affiliate links through the posts you will publish.
* By buying advertisements from eZines with large circulations. This will require onetime monetary investments.
* By partaking of Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. This will likewise require onetime monetary investments. But there is no maintenance cost. You can potentially reap the rewards instantly.

A Suggestion

Though it may seem more expensive to build and maintain your own website, it is the better recourse. You will earn enough, eventually, to recover your investments.

Having your own website will make affiliate marketing more convenient. More importantly, having your own website will contribute a lot to the automation you will most certainly be aiming for.

How To Publish Your Own Ebook, Part 3
Writing For An Online Audience

There’s a world of difference between writing for print publications and writing for an online audience. Whereas print publications demand a certain degree of eloquence and style, digital publications demand a more conversational approach. The reason? There are a number, actually…

* Your readers will be reading from their monitors, which is a more taxing task. You will want to make things easier for them.
* Your readers will have different levels of reading comprehension, and you will want to cater to as wide an audience as possible.
* Your readers, being internet users, have been spoiled by the sheer convenience provided by the World Wide Web. This has made them impatient and only a conversational tone will be able to keep their interests.
* Your readers expect something a little more different than the print publications they have been accustomed to.

When writing for an online audience, you don’t need a Shakespearian masterpiece. You need something that will convey the information you want to share as succinctly, as clearly and as simple as possible.

Always keep this in mind during our discussions for this article.

Some Tips You Need To Remember

Writing your own eBook will be made more effective if you’d follow the guidelines below:

1. Keep away from technical jargons unless absolutely necessary. You wouldn’t want to turn off your readers. You want to capture their interest to read on until the end of your eBook.
2. Write as if you’re writing for a 12 year old. This shouldn’t be taken as an insult to your readers. It’s just that studies show that the average reading comprehension level of internet users is that of a 12 year old. Hence, writing for such an age bracket will make you connect with a wider audience.
3. Make good use of negative space. Negative space refers to the space in between words and paragraphs. This blank space allows your readers’ eyes to rest. They need such because it is so much stressful to read from their computer screens.
4. In line with number 3, try to keep your sentences and paragraphs as short as possible. This will provide more negative space.
5. Use bullets and numberings as much as possible. They make your work easier to scan whenever your readers would like to have a quick go through of your eBook.
6. Talk to your readers. This will make things more interesting for them.

On Negative Space

It must be remembered that, when writing an eBook or any online material for that matter, negative space is your friend. This is very much different from the print publication mentality. Writers for print publications want to stuff each and every paragraph with as many words as possible. They feel that if their paragraphs are short, they are cheating their audience.

Writing for online users is very much different. You are not writing to give your audience a great reading experience. You are writing to give them the information they need.

Do not be afraid to keep your sentences and paragraphs short.

Do not be afraid to use one sentence paragraphs when the situation calls for it.

Remember this always: negative space is your friend. Negative space makes your piece easier to read and this is, ultimately, what you should aim for.

A Culture Of Its Own

The problem that most first time eBook writers experience is that they apply so much of their print publication experience on digital writing. This shouldn’t be the case.

Writing an eBook is a culture of its own. It has its own rules. It has its own audience. And it demands its own style.

The sooner such a fact is accepted, the sooner the would be eBook writer will learn the intricacies of the trade.

How To Boost Your Profit By Beating Procrastination

Having your online business makes you susceptible to one great enemy: procrastination.

Since your online enterprise will require you to log online for many hours every single day, you have access to a wealth of digital fancies scattered over billions of web pages. The temptation to wander around and check out the latest news about your favorite Hollywood stars or athletes, or play an online game or two, or download some fantastic products that will keep you busy during idle (and not so idle) times is always there.

These are all counter-productive.

You’re supposed to be online to work, not to indulge in entertainment and the likes.

Often, internet businessmen spend most of their time with trivial matters. This takes away the focus that should be accorded to their enterprise. Worse, this eats up valuable time that should be invested on their online setup.

The Dangers Of Digital Procrastination

Time is gold in this industry, and if other matters will compete with the time we should be giving our online business, we will be opening ourselves to many perils. These dangers include:

* Missing deadlines. This is made doubly worse if clients or customers expect you to meet those deadlines. They are the ones who have trusted you with their hard earned money. Any delays can be construed as a breach of their trust. This can lead to ruined reputation and diminished credibility.

* Missing opportunities. Internet marketing is a constantly – CONSTANTLY – evolving field. Something new is invented everyday, and the difference between a million dollar payday and a ten dollar paycheck can boil down to who will be able to capitalize on a new opportunity first. Blink and you can potentially lose the race.

* Reduced profit. Internet marketing is also about how much you can produce. Your profit is dependent on how productive you can be. If you cannot invest your time and resources on bringing out new products – either products you can directly sell or products which can help you out with certain campaigns – then you’ll lag behind your competitors.

Self Control: Easier Said Than Done

The solution seems simple: practice self control. After all, all you need is to muster enough discipline to stay away from fancies that are not relevant to your business, at least while there is work that is needed to be done.

But as often is the case, it’s never that easy. For starters, discipline is quite difficult to summon, especially when faced with the many fascinating escapes that the World Wide Web can offer.

Would you really want to refrain from accessing your World of Warcraft character and get left behind by your friends who are nearing level 60, for example?

Practicing self control is the most obvious solution, but it is far from being the easiest.

If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Join ‘Em

Here’s a novel approach…

You don’t have to sacrifice the trivial things you enjoy. No. That would be too hard, and it’ll just be an invitation for misery. Besides, even if you manage to stay away from time-consuming fancies, how much time will you waste regretting such a decision? Such will render the method useless.

Instead, you can try embracing the things you enjoy.

However, you should make them your rewards.

Remind yourself that you can indulge in those things immediately after your work for the day is finished. This way, you’ll be making your weakness your motivation. It’s tantamount to making something negative a positive, and it should work for your benefit.

Before chatting with your friends, remind yourself to finish your deliverables first.

Before playing those online Sudoku games, reply to all the emails you have received beforehand.

Before indulging on your favorite MMORPG, try to finish the project which you have set out to create.

You don’t have to abandon your inclinations. You just have to use them the right way.
