A Comprehensive Guide To Affiliate Marketing Success, Part 5
Discovering Your USP
So you have decided to become an affiliate. Congratulations! This is truly the easiest, fastest way to earn some profit in the World Wide Web.
Your excitement, however, ma have been extinguished by some eventual realizations. So indeed, you’d earn 70%, or maybe even 90%, per successful sale you will manage to refer. That’s a big amount.
Then again, you’d have to compete with other affiliates who are pre-selling the same products and who have the same goals as you do. If the affiliate program has 5,000 affiliates, you will have to compete with 4,999 other people offering the same products to the same market.
Now, faced with such odds, how are you to succeed with affiliate marketing?
Market Saturation Is A Given
The market will get saturated. This is a given eventuality. It’s how fast or how slow the saturation will be that is of the essence. If many people are trying to sell the same products to the market, saturation point will be reached sooner rather than later.
Hence, it’ll be a matter of how fast you’ll be able to reach your target audience and pre-sell your products to them. Will you be able to do it before saturation point is achieved? Or will you be a little too late? This will spell your success.
But only initially.
There is one tried and tested way that you can implement to give you the best chances of succeeding in the affiliate marketing field. We call this the unique selling proposition, or the USP for brevity.
What Is The USP?
The USP, simply put, means that you should put your own twist into things. It’s a given that hundreds, if not thousands, of other affiliates will be pre-selling the same products. The challenge that the USP presents is this: how can you make your offer different than theirs?
How can you make your offer BETTER than theirs?
Remember, all of you will be pre-selling the same products. Hence, you must find a way by which your audience will be more interested with what you have to offer than what other affiliates are presenting.
This is an exciting challenge, one which will test your creativity and aptitude for this business. And since affiliate marketing requires little financial investment, if at all, we can say that it’s a safe game. The risks are low… but the rewards are great. So don’t forget to have fun in finding your USP.
The USP In Action
Take a look at the following examples to give you an idea how established affiliate marketers utilize their own USP so that you can come up with your own…
* Offering a straight up discount if your prospects will order from your affiliate link. This discount can be compensated by the commission you will receive per sale.
* Offering a cash rebate if your prospects will order from your affiliate link. Just like discounts, this rebate can be taken from the commission you will receive per sale.
* Offering a plethora of bonuses that will increase the perceived value of the affiliate merchant’s products. Be sure to inform your prospects that such bonuses can only be availed of from your offer.
* Offering discounts for future products.
* Offering access to an exclusive membership website that will provide for them some fantastic bonuses through time.
These are just a few of the more popular USPs in action.
There are more of course. Chances are, with a little inspiration, you’d be able to come up with your own. That’ll certainly emphasize “unique” in the term “unique selling proposition!”

How To Publish Your Own EBook, Part 5
Ebook Myths Demystified
People are often under the impression that eBooks should be similar to their print counterparts. This is a grave misconception. Ebooks are on a class of their own. They have their own standards. They have their own goals. They employ their own style.
In creating your own eBook, you should remember to forget the demands and expectations one would usually get when preparing a print publication. Ebooks cater to an entirely different audience, and some adjustment – big adjustments at that – have to be made.
How Long Should The Ebook Be?
Print publication often run 250 plus pages, and many online businessmen are under the impression that eBooks should likewise have just as many pages. Well, there’s no stopping you from creating such an eBook, but the norm is, an eBook should have at least 30 pages.
Mini eBooks are in fact the standard in the industry. There are many reasons for this:
* Online readers are generally impatient, hence, delivering the information as concisely and as straightforward as possible is the best way to reach out to them.
* Online readers suffer more stress from reading the materials on their monitor screens, hence, by keeping things short, you’d be able to make their eyes rest.
* Online customers want the information more than the exposition. And information can often be expressed in 30 pages, or a little bit more than that number.
Just because your eBook will have such a length doesn’t mean you’re cheating your audience. In a way, it is giving what your customers want: information that is simple to understand. This is what they will be paying for.
The File Format For An Ebook
There are 2 possible file formats for an eBook: .pdf or .exe . Of the two, .pdf is recommended. Though .exe will beautify certain aspects of your eBook via automatically loading pages, images, and the likes, .pdf is a more universal file format. Files that are .pdf can be read by PC and Mac platforms. This will give you a bigger audience and a bigger market.
Also, with the advent of PDAs and PDA-cell phones these days, .pdf files have grown in popularity as people can read them through their portable devices. This means that they can enjoy such files even while they’re on the go.
Do aim for a .pdf file format for your eBooks. This has become the industry standard for good reasons.
What Word Processing Program Should You Use?
When typing the content of your eBook, it is recommended that you use Microsoft Word. It is, by far, the most powerful, most versatile and most comprehensive word processing software program available. And if you are running on a Windows operating system, chances are, it’s already installed on your setup.
Converting an MS Word .doc file into a .pdf file is quite easy. Several programs are available in the World Wide Web that will help you do this. It’s a good investment, especially if you’re planning on building a library of eBooks to sell.
How To Deal With Technical Jargons
As much as possible, do not use technical jargons that will just confuse your readers. Try to state these terms in layman’s language – a dialogue they can understand.
There are times, however, when you will have no recourse but to use technical jargons. How should you deal with such situations? Here are some short guidelines:
* Always keep in mind the rule on gradual progression, that is, the easiest concepts should first be introduced before proceeding to more difficult subjects in a graduating scale.
* Use analogies and illustrations as much as possible to make things easier to understand.
* Limit the usage of complicated terms to the technical jargons you will introduce. The explanation should be as conversational and as simple as possible.

How To Start Your Own Online Business, Part 2
Earning Opportunities Online
There are countless earning opportunities online that it will take an encyclopedic work to name and discuss all of them. All of these earning opportunities are proven to be potent. Here are 6 of the top earning opportunities in the World Wide Web:
1. Selling your own digital products. You can opt to create your own products and sell the same for a price. The benefit of this approach is that you can potentially have multiple sales per item. Your earning potential is not limited by how much you can produce, rather, it will depend on how many copies of a single product you can sell. There are two types of digital products you can sell online. These are information products (eBooks, special reports, articles) and solutions (software programs, scripts, websites, graphics).
2. Selling the resale rights and private label rights of your own digital products. By default and operation of law, the rights to the products you will create shall belong only to you. This means that no one can sell or otherwise use your products without your consent. As such, you can sell the rights to your products for an added amount. There is a big market for products being sold with their resale rights (rights to sell), master resale rights (rights to sell with resale rights) and private label rights (rights to alter). Products like these come with earning opportunities, and their higher selling prices are justified.
3. Selling tangible goods. Digital products aren’t the only things you can sell online. You can also use the internet as an advertising venue for your physical goods. Study popular auction sites such as www.ebay.com and you’ll discover thousands of people earning big money selling products which they ship to the purchasers.
4. Signing up as an affiliate. Many claim that the quickest and most cost-efficient way to earn profit online is by being an affiliate. There are many affiliate programs out there which will pay you a generous commission – from 20% to 80% of the selling price – for every customer you will manage to refer. You won’t have to worry about actually selling the products. You just have to pre-sell the same so that your prospects will click on your affiliate links and visit the affiliate merchant’s sales pages.
5. Operating websites enrolled with Pay Per Click (PPC) programs. An increasing number of webmasters are discovering the untold wealth promised by PPC programs. PPC programs like Google AdSense pay webmasters for every click of the ads that are displayed on their web pages. Imagine a click costing a mere $0.05. Imagine further that a website garners 1,000 visitors per day with a click through rate of 10%, that is 100 people manage to click on the ads they see on the web pages. That’s $5 per day, just like that. Imagine further if the webmaster has 20, 50 or even 100 websites enrolled with a PPC program and capable of the same statistics. That is how lucrative this online earning opportunity can be!
6. Freelancing. You’re not limited to selling products, of course. You can sell your services as well. You can become a freelancer and provide help for many people. Are you good at writing? Then you can become a ghostwriter or a content provider. Are you good with programming? There are jobs waiting for you as well. Are you good with graphics? You’d be amazed at the demand for your services in the digital world.
Have you determined the earning opportunity that’s best suited for you? Regardless of your choice, you’re sure to discover that the internet can be as profitable – if not more profitable – than the real world. The World Wide Web allows you to reach a global audience, after all. There will always be a need for what you can offer, no matter how obscure it may seem to be.
The key is in knowing how to find the particular audience you are looking for.
