I trust everything is well with you and that you are making good progress with your home based business.

Affiliate marketing is a very competitive field, more so in particular niche markets like Internet marketing. To be able to rise above the norm, you must be equipped with just the right stuff necessary to propel you forward.

There are five ingredients you must ultimately possess if you want to achieve the glory you are yearning for.

The first ingredient is the willingness to learn and be trained. Treading through unfamiliar territory is scary stuff if you are not properly equipped, and you might get lost amidst the unknown. Learning the tricks of the trade is an important aspect of the game, and your willingness to learn will give you far more advantages in than you could ever imagine.

The second ingredient is the willingness to invest time and effort even if direct results do not seem apparent. Although several months may pass without good news, it is important for you to hold on to your dreams and aspirations. It is this ingredient that will save you from giving up.

The third ingredient is self-determination. If you want to conquer the affiliate marketing world, you must have the ability to push yourself ahead. Never having to say die is a quality each and every affiliate marketer should possess, and the ability to motivate yourself into scaling greater heights is an ability which will actually take an affiliate marketer there.

The fourth ingredient is discipline. If you know how to teach yourself to work everyday with all the energy you can muster, then are close to achieving what you want.

The fifth ingredient is optimism. Negative attitudes and hearsays should not discourage affiliate marketers from pursuing a better life. Neither should anyone else influence your attitude toward your business.

Affiliate marketing is all about putting your fate into your own hands.

To your home based business success,

Bryan

Everything You Need to Know About Linking

by Sharon Housley

Websites that are able to amass a large number of links from
related websites that contain relevant content, tend to have
an advantage when attempting to rank well in the large
search engines. The tricky part is understanding how to
build a large quantity of quality links. With the growth of
the web and increased competition, search engines are
weighing link relevance, and link authority as part of their
ranking algorithm.

Earning Links
Link popularity is a form of "social bookmarking". Think
about it, a link is akin to a "vote" from the source. Just
like in the real world, a vote from a source that is known
to be trusted and respected in a specific industry carries
more weight and contains more social clout, so does a link
from a credible online source. Web links are seen as a
recommendation or a website endorsement. If the endorsements
are from established respected sources in a specific sector,
the link is weighed heavier than an unrelated link or links
from a source that is not yet established.

The easiest way to earn a link is to provide quality unique
content.

How do you know who is respected?
One way to determine the value of a website is by accessing
its PageRank. PageRank is visible in the Google Toolbar and
is calculated based on the number of quality incoming links
that a website has. Alexa Rank and TrustRank are also
indicators of a websites popularity. Alexa tracks the
websites that people who use the Alexa toolbar visit. Based
on these visits, they determine the popularity of a website
and rank it accordingly. TrustRank is a little more
difficult to pin down. TrustRank is based on the assumption
that good websites rarely link to bad neighborhoods.

PageRank and Alexa Rank can be used to help webmasters
assess what webpages and websites are valued by search
engines. Keep in mind, this is not an end-all/be-all. The
rankings should only be used only as guides. Relevance
matters, a link from a respected tree website will not help
a software website unless they are selling software related
to trees or landscaping.

Authoritative Links
Some websites wield great power. They are not topic specific
and are considered quality credible sources or
"authorities". Examples of authoritative sources would be
other search engines or directories like Yahoo, DMoz and
Wikipedia. They are respected resources on almost any
industry topics. Authoritative links are desirable and can
help increase a websites popularity.

Deep Linking
Regardless of a websites topic material, if the website is
well designed and informative, its generally not too
difficult to attract links to a websites' main page. But
what many webmasters do not realize, it is equally important
to attract incoming links to a variety of pages on the
website. The more varied the links to various webpages
within a single domain, shows search engines that a website
contains an abundance of quality material.

Anchor Text
When a publisher links to a website, the search engines
consider the link text used in the link. Varied but related
text in the link shows what the material is about. All links
that contain the same text look "unnatural" and may be
considered as "purchased" or unreliable. Search engines are
partial to natural incoming links. Ideally attempt to
establish varied linking text that unite in a common theme.

An example: Software Marketing Resource
links with text containing things like: software marketing;
shareware marketing; software promotion; online software
marketing; promoting software; promoting shareware. All are
synonymous with software marketing and are natural phrases
that would be used to describe the same website.

Directory Linking
Directories should not be overlooked in linking strategies
and while webmasters should not rely on directories solely
when developing strong links, they can be advantageous.
Particular attention should be paid to topic specific
directories. A topical directories are often consider
authorities and a related link can boost exposure.

Competitive Intelligence
Webmasters looking for links and don't know where to look,
should have a peak at who is linking to their competitors.
Use competitive intelligence to track down quality link
sources.

Give it Away
An easy way to earn links is to give something away. Whether
you are providing quality content free of charge or a free
software application, webmasters appreciate quality content
and products that are available free of charge. Use the free
item or content to draw attention to your website, if you
are truly providing something of value, it will generate
unsolicited links that are invaluable. Develop a linking
strategy as part of your website marketing plan.

The aim should be to attract authoritative links from
related sources.

10 Tips for Raising Your Search Engine Rankings

By Cody Moya

Search engine rankings are an important factor to consider when you have a website that needs more traffic. If your website doesn’t have a good position in the rankings then no-one will find it, so you need to make sure that your website is ranked highly enough to be seen.

The other important quality to getting high traffic to your site is having a nice arsenal of links. The more links that you have to your site the more traffic you will get, but also, the more links to your site the more search engines like your site. Keeping a nice supply of links pointing at your site requires similar precautions and practices as getting high search engine listings.

Although no SEO company can guarantee a high ranking for your site, here are some tips for raising your search engine ranking. Using these tips will not get you to the top unless your site is the best out there, but they will at least put you into the positioning that you truly deserve.

After all, the internet is basically a free market. You will naturally flow into the place that you deserve and many search engines try to insure that you do not rise above or fall below this position. This is why they are so strict, and this is why you must keep yourself on good terms with them.

1) Content is an important factor in high search engine rankings. Make sure that you have plenty of content throughout your site with your target keywords in the articles. It’s also worth doing a search for websites similar to yours and taking a look at their articles for ideas.

The more content you have the better. It is generally a good idea to have between three hundred and five hundred words per page, but more important than a quantity of content is the quality of the content that you are providing. You cannot just put out three hundred words of jargon and expect your visitors to find it interesting and stick around for the long haul.

2) Your website’s URL can help you rank higher with the search engines if it contains your keywords. However, don’t think that naming your site after your keywords will always help your rankings you need to do more than just that.

3) Search terms should be written out in text, instead of graphics. If you do use pictures, be sure to give them alt tags. The alt tags in your pictures are almost as important as text. It’s also a good idea to put some of your key words in links to other pages.

In the eyes of a search engine it is almost as good to have a link to a page full of the content that the visitor is looking for as it is to have the content that the visitor is looking for on your page. If a visitor is looking for something that you are linking to and he or she finds your page, they may look around your site on the way through.

4) The title of your page is very important, and making sure that you choose it wisely will make a big difference. Terms such ‘free article on safe children's toys’, or ‘contact the children's toy expert today’ are good to use as titles, for example they would get you a high ranking. The title area is the most important place to include your keyword phrases, so make sure that you put them all in.

5) The navigation menu that appears on each page of your website should include your page’s title.

6) Don’t just use the most popular keyword phrases the market is so competitive that you should be sure to include some niche keywords too.

7) Make sure that you don’t have a lot of irrelevant links on your site. The more closely related to your site your links are, the better your chances of being ranked in a higher position.

8) You need to periodically update the content of your website, even if it’s only a slight change, as websites like sites that are kept updated.

9) You need to consider the fact most search engines don’t like automatic submissions or multiple submissions submit once, manually.

10) Always be on the look out for SEO news staying up to date and using the latest techniques will help you stay one step ahead of your competition.

Free Internet Marketing: Replace Your Income Using Only Free Online Strategies

By Jack Silver

I started internet marketing in January of this year and, despite earning enough money to allow me to quit my job and do this full time, still feel like a newbie. In this business, you quickly realise how vast and the internet marketing arena really is. Because of the sheer scale of the internet and the number of money-making strategies to reflect this huge amount of opportunity, the average newbie will spend months just getting to grips with most of the general profit avenues internet marketing has to offer, and they will find themselves divulged with offers of brand new internet marketing software, internet marketing books, internet marketing tips etc. However, it is essential that the newbie always bears in mind that the quickest, simplest and easiest way to make money online is via free internet marketing.

There are many free internet marketing methods to make fast money online. For example, a newbie could collate free information about blogging, and then set up a free blog at Blogspot or Wordpress; the newbie could then insert some Adsense for free and get about optimising the pages so the search engines would attract visitors. Or the newbie could try affiliate marketing; the newbie would simply go over to Clickbank, get a free affiliate code, choose a product to affiliate for, and then start hitting free internet forums targeted for their product to promote it in their profile signature. And this is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to free internet marketing.

The internet marketing Gods reward those who are innovative. So why not see how creative you can be? You could try and link several free blogs to articles and to forum postings. Create a large network that is earning money for you on autopilot. I know of several individuals who do nothing more than post in forums all day long and earn a small fortune from it. There is absolutely no reason why you cannot replace (and even improve) your full-time job income using simple free internet marketing methods. You do not need the latest internet marketing software to make cash.

Whenever a newbie asks me how to make money online, I strongly urge them to do it through free internet marketing methods. I tell them to research all the free internet marketing methods they can through internet marketing forums, make comprehensive notes, then compile a plan, and then follow through with it. Never allow yourself to get distracted. And here is my golden rule - if you cannot replace your full-time job income through simple free internet marketing methods, then you should not consider moving any further in the internet marketing world. This is basic stuff. Just because they happen to be free methods, don’t make the mistake of thinking that somehow limits the amount you can earn, because there is no cap. Some people have become multi-millionaires through using free internet marketing methods.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. Don’t buy into the hype of aggressive sales letters, don’t allow yourself to get magnetised by the latest software releases. Focus on the established free methods of making cash online, take consistent action, be open to constructive criticism, and it’s more than likely you will eventually become a very wealthy individual. This is the bread-and-butter of internet marketing and, in time to come, you will realise that the expensive courses only really provide tips, tricks and refinements to the education you gave yourself from free internet marketing methods.

Jack Silver is an internet market based in the U.K.

Jack quit his full-time job earlier this year to pursue his profitable online home business. The lure of working in pyjamas and drinking Kenyan coffee all day proved too good to resist.

Jack has posted his rags-to-riches story at http://www.moneyinpyjamas.wordpress.com in the hope that it will inspire other newcomers to internet marketing.
