Date: June 27, 2006 Moms are a primary target for work at home business schemes. Go to any web site that is about moms or mothers and you will find tons of ads for a home business for moms. Why are they targeted? Because many women want to work from home and have their own homebased business for moms. They want to make money while they stay at home with their kids. They are tired of spending most of the day on the road or in their office and too tired to enjoy their family when they go home at night. Many women still believe (and I am one of them) that working moms can have their cake and eat it, too. If you are a mom in this situation, you can have your cake and eat it, too. You can join many moms working at home and start a viable internet business without becoming a victim of the scam artists. The answer is to build your own web site. There are many ways to make money with your own web site. But first, you have to start with what you know. What do you know about? Are you an expert on a particular subject? Do you have a hobby that you can help others develop? People go on the internet to find information. Whether it’s weight loss, money management, vacation planning, organizing a home, scrapbooking, health problems, or anything else that you can think of, people go to the internet to get answers to their questions. Once you do a search about the subject you are interested in, what usually pops up in the search engine of your choice? A list of sites that are focused on this subject. Many of the sites listed are trying to sell you something that relates to that subject, right? But if you click on an “ad site”, you just keep going back to your search results until you find answers to your questions, not just ads. Bingo! Once you find that site, you look for the information you need and sometimes you put that site on your favorites and you go back to it again and again. That’s the kind of site you want to build…a web site with good information or content that people will come back to again and again. So how do you make money with a web site like that? Many times the web site will have ads that you click on about your subject or they have links that you go to and there’s information offered that you are willing to buy. Everytime someone clicks on a link or ad like that, the web site makes money. You might know so much about your subject that you are able to write your own ebook, an electronic book about your subject that people are willing to buy. You might have a product that is related to your subject matter that you can sell on your site. Sometimes another web site has a quality product that you can link to and everytime you send someone to that site and they make a purchase, you will receive a commission from that referral. Those are called affiliate programs. Having a web site that makes money requires a knowledge about something and a willingness to work hard. Everyone, including moms, knows something about something. You can make money on the internet with what you know! Establishing a relationship of trust with your customers is fundamental to any long-term business success. This is even more important with internet marketing because you rarely have any personal contact with your customers. What about content? There’s no need to be concerned about this as the internet is the perfect place to research your chosen niche and you will never run short of material! You can even hire “ghost writers” to write articles for you -- it’s cheaper than you may think! There are a number of online companies that specialize in helping to put webmasters in contact with freelance writers. Two of the better known sites are Rentacoder and Elance. You can get a good quality article of about 500 words written for under $10. Tip: Never ever copy anyone else’s work. This is not only unethical, but is also illegal and can get you into a lot of trouble. Always take time to create your own original material, based on your own research. Targeted affiliate marketing using mini-sites
One of the best, and most effective, methods of growing your affiliate marketing business is by promoting highly targeted niche products for internet merchants. Niche products have many advantages, including lower levels of competition, higher click through and sales conversion rates and higher commissions.
In addition, the mini web sites used to promote affiliates who sell niche products are among the easiest and least expensive to create and maintain.
The concept behind niche marketing by using mini-sites is deceptively simple. The first step is to create a one or two page web site which is focused exclusively on a single niche market or specific subject. Everything on this web site should be focused on getting visitors to take the action you want them to.
The mini-site should be designed cleanly using only standard, plain vanilla HTML code, with no flash, animation or other fancy plug ins. Graphics should also be kept to a minimum. It is important to keep the page as simple as possible. The page should contain no banner ads or outside links. Nothing on the page should distract the attention of the visitor.
The entire purpose of the min-site is to attract a highly targeted audience. The more highly targeted the audience is, the better it will be for you. For example the mini site should focus on one specific product. If you have more than one product to promote, create a mini page for each product.
Niche markets are among the most profitable of all internet markets, and they tend to have much higher sales conversion rates and click through rates than do more general interest web sites. People who express an interest in these types of niche markets generally work very hard to find what they are looking for, and when they have found it they are ready to buy then and there.
Savvy affiliates will take advantage of this aspect of niche marketing by making their web sites as simple as possible. Creating a simple squeeze page consisting of only a signup form and a free offer is a great way to capture the email addresses of those highly specialized consumers.
That highly specialized and targeted email list of subscribers can then be used to market products again and again. Since these highly specialized consumers are more likely to buy the products offered than the public at large, you will likely see higher conversion rates than those enjoyed on your generate purpose affiliate sites.
There is no doubt that using highly targeted niche marketing in your affiliate program is a great way to boost your exposure as well as your affiliate income.
The hardest part of this kind of targeted affiliate marketing is finding the niche in the first place, but in many cases you may be overlooking some obvious sources of niche marketing. If you enjoy a particular activity or hobby, especially an obscure or relatively unknown hobby or interest, you may have already discovered such a niche market. If you use a particular item in your hobby or activity, be sure to look there first for a great niche marketing opportunity.
