I hope all is going well with your efforts to Prosper Online.
Traffic generation efforts themselves can be broken down into
two different types of traffic generation.
Primary traffic generation is the type where you take the
action that brings the traffic itself. Primary traffic
generation types include advertising, opt-in lists, social
networking, and in some cases blogging for traffic or posting
articles on your own sites.
Secondary traffic generation is considered to be the generation
of traffic that affects your search engine ranking - so again,
blogging, articles, and the less obvious, like providing content
for other sites as an 'expert' - generating link backs via
article databases and more. This secondary traffic generation
is generally considered to be more viral, but is important that
you understand how to do it, so you can play by the rules.
Where search engines are concerned, following their guidelines
towards steady results is infinitively more preferable than
working with black hat techniques, gaining a brief advantage
and then discovering that you're banned when they find out.
The single most important thing about primary and secondary
traffic generation is that you've got to know how to do it -
and you've got to be willing to put in an effort. Otherwise
you'll find that you lose the effort you put in on all primary
'fronts'. Traffic is a battle in many ways - and you have to
choose which areas you want to push.

Promoting your Business Using Affiliate Marketing
You started your own online business, everything’s there; your website’s running, every link in it is functioning as it should be, the products or services you’re selling are there, but your sales are at an all time low.
Why? You probably thought that starting an online business just requires you to put up a functioning website; this is where you are wrong.
Starting an online business is not as easy as it seems. As with other businesses, you have to advertise your products in order to lure people in and start buying your products.
So just how do you advertise in the internet?
Simple
There are a number of ways to promote your online business in the internet. One of them is through affiliate programs.
Affiliate programs works by posting your banners and links to other websites. Most of these are free; you only pay affiliates for every customer referrals from their website who buys your product.
For example, Customer “A” visits your affiliate’s website, then customer “A” gets interested in the product you are selling, and then customer “A” clicks on your link or banner in your affiliate’s website. Customer “A” is then redirected to your website so that he/she can buy the product you are selling.
You then pay your affiliate with a specified amount of commission for that product.
How would you find affiliates who would want to post your links and banners free?
There are so many people in the internet willing to post your links and banners free. People like to use affiliate programs because they practically do not have to do anything hard through this form of advertising.
All they do is promote their website in order to generate targeted internet traffic to their website, therefore, generating targeted traffic to your website and produce more sales.
All they do is hope and pray that a visitor from their website will buy your product in order to get a commission.
To find a good number of affiliates who are willing to promote your products free, you first have to sign up with an affiliate-tracking program.
After signing up, you now have to make a decision on how much you are going to pay your affiliate for each sold product.
You then design some banners or text link that your affiliates can use to post in their website.
Now you are set. All you have to do is wait for affiliates to sign up in the affiliate tracking program and start promoting your products.
Although affiliates can promote your products or services free, you still have to take care of your affiliates in order to promote your product more diligently and with loyalty.
To get affiliate’s loyalty and get them to work harder in promoting your products, pay them well. Give your affiliates a high commission rate for every products sold with their referrals. Not only that it will keep your affiliates from leaving you but it will also attract more affiliates to sign up for you.
You also have to track the sales generated by each and every affiliates referred to you. If you have lots of affiliate, you can easily track their referrals and sales through the affiliate tracking company you signed up for.
You also have to pay your affiliates as early as possible for their sales. Letting them wait for months will discourage them to promote your products and leave you. For this, you have to set up a minimum payment requirement in order to track which affiliate you have to pay.
Be professional, answer questions from emails from your affiliates regarding your affiliate program as soon as you can. Do this in a friendly and professional manner.
Create an affiliate’s newsletter. This is a great way to show your support your affiliate and a great way to give them tips on how to market your products more effectively.
Give your top affiliates bonuses for the sales they bring you and include them in your newsletter for your affiliates. This will get your other affiliates to work harder in promoting your products, and a little competition is good for your affiliates.
Create an affiliate’s only chat room. This will enable your affiliates to speak with each other and discuss about how to make your products to sell more. Providing them with chat rooms or discussion boards will show how much you support them. It is also a good way to give tips and advice on how to market your products.
Affiliate programs are a great and cheap way to advertise your products. Your affiliates will work hard if you give them enough benefits and bonuses for promoting your products or services.

Advertising without looking like an advertisement through
article marketing
You article marketing strategy will prove to be useless if your article will not be accepted by the publishers who reviews what you have been submitting.
And to ensure the probability that your articles will be accepted, here are some important points to remember before you go into submissions.
1. Check and proofread your own article.
Some authors do not proofread their articles because they find it takes a lot of time. But if you want your articles to be accepted quickly and easily, it is your duty to make help out the publisher. How do you do this?
The first thing you should do is to check and review you grammar and spelling more than once. You might have missed something when you checked the first time around but you will come upon it the second or third time.
It is also best if you have and know someone that will review it for you. Ask that person to look for anything that does not seem right. This would be from grammar to sentence formation. They are more likely to see mistakes that you have missed.
When writing articles, you get very familiar with the content that you will not anymore aware of mistakes committed.
It is very easy for writers to miss out obvious mistakes. Adding some familiarity into them does not help either. You will just commit more because of this. By having someone read article, this problem will be eliminated.
2. Your articles should have value.
If you want free traffic for your site, articles are the best ways to do it. But keep in mind that they are not supposed to be an advertisement. That is why you are using them in the first place. Making your articles appear like one will make publishers delete them so fast you would not know what hit them.
Put yourself in the publishers’ shoes. Their primary concern is to look for some new, fresh and useful content to supply to their readers. For them, good articles are personal commentaries about the latest trend in the industry or reviews about a certain product.
Trying to include a link to your site is obviously advertising. The instant they see that, they dispose of them quickly without bothering to read that you have written a good content. All you efforts thrashed.
Try to go back to the time when you were just new in the article marketing business. You were hungry to get the freshest and the most valuable information. Your articles were all precious to you.
Every writer has the right to a resource box space at the end of each article. This will serve as your advertisement. And this is as far as you can go. Readers who have found your article interesting would surely want to go visit your site to get more information about you and what you are offering.
As small as they seem to be, resource boxes serve much greater purpose if you compare it with others that are promoting visibly and with obvious advertising mediums posted.
When writing your resource box, try to be as brief as you can. They do not have to be near as long as your article. Try to also limit the number of links you put into them. The standard resource box consist of only 4 to 5 lines.
3. Articles should be straight and up to the point.
An article is written with one key point in mind and that is to be informational. Do not beat around the bush, be as clear as you possibly can. Keep in mind that your readers are of varying intellectual capacity. Not all can understand idioms or figures of speech.
It is said that an article that is appears to be boring to you may be clear and understandable to your readers. You should have a writing style that is not too difficult to follow. Nothing turns a reader off more than reading an article that seem to go on circles.
Creating a quality article can be easy. Just try to consider your content, your readers and the publishers and you are on your way to a fast and steady start to profits.

Measuring Web Traffic for an Effective Site
Thousands of data are sent and received by users in the Internet every second. Just imagine how web developers manage to handle such large volume of data (with different genre such as music files, PDF, and others). Most of these are data that potential customers are looking for. If you can find the people who are looking for data or information related to your site, you can direct them to your site and increase your web traffic.
The more traffic you get, the better it is for your site to become successful and profitable.
How can you determine the traffic that flows from a variety of websites? One parameter is by the number of visitors and the number of pages that they view. The website moderator supervises both incoming and outgoing traffic to determine which parts or mostly visitors view pages of it.
Let us say for instance, you have accessed the webpage of a certain site. Maybe you will notice that there is a certain figure in the page that says, “Welcome! You are the 999,999th visitor in this site.” That is one way the site is determining the traffic in that certain page.
The gathered data in web traffic monitoring help configure sites and increase its security system against viruses and hackers.
Measuring Web Traffic
Creating a website is costly. You need to hire web designers for that matter. In return, your site must be popular among web users so that it can gain advertisers and promoters. Thus, it creates an income on your part.
By measuring and analyzing your web sites, web traffic you will see if your site is popularly viewed. However, how is this done?
Traffic around your site is analyzed by viewing the traffic statistics found in the web server record file. It is an automatically generated list of all the pages served.
This is how it works: A hit is produced when any file is served. The web page itself is considered a file. Images are considered as files, too. Thus, if a certain page has five images, it could generate six hits.
Sometimes, web traffic is measured by packet sniffing. Usually a software program can interrupt and monitor traffic passing over a digital network.
As data passes back and forth over the network, the sniffer captures each packet and eventually deciphers and examines its content according to the appropriate specifications. All the data that the sniffer captured is recorded and included in the web traffic analysis.
The following information is often gathered when supervising web traffic:
• The quantity of web visitors
• The average number of page views per visitor. It will indicate that he is going deep inside that particular site possibly because he finds the information useful.
• Average visit duration- the total length of a user’s visit
• Average page duration- the length of time the page is viewed for
• Busy times- the most popular visiting time of the site. It can be used to decide when is the best time to put advertisement and the most ideal to make some maintenance.
• The most popular pages
• Most requested entry pages viewed
• Most requested exit pages would determine bad pages, broken links, or exit pages that may have a popular external link.
• The top paths or the sequence of pages viewed by visitors from their entry and exit to the site. It identifies which paths he is using to browse the site.
• The external links to determine which sites are creating the most traffic for a particular page.
Once the data had been gathered, web planners will now use it as reference on how to improve that particular site. Sometimes, there are problems that may arise from huge quantity of visitors browsing the same site on the same time.
From the gathered traffic data, they will now plan some site structuring to accommodate larger volumes of users accessing the site.
Web traffic is an important factor considered when creating a website. Your site will gain popularity to web users if it is easy to access. In addition, fast exchange of information is one of the vital characteristics of an effective website.
